About Fractional Executives & Maestro
A fractional executive is a senior leader - such as a CFO, CMO, COO, CTO or CSO - who works with your business on a part-time, interim or project basis. Unlike a traditional consultant who advises from the outside, a fractional executive embeds into your team, works alongside your leadership, and drives real execution. It's senior capability without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire.

A fractional executive works part-time across one or more businesses simultaneously - ideal when you need ongoing senior leadership at a fraction of the cost. An interim executive steps in full-time for a defined period, typically to cover a leadership gap, manage a transition or lead a critical program. An independent consultant is engaged for a specific project or outcome, bringing deep expertise to solve a defined problem. Maestro connects businesses with all three, depending on what you actually need.

A recruiter sends you CVs and steps away. A consulting firm sends you a team you didn't choose at a rate you can't sustain. Maestro does neither. We personally curate and vet every expert we represent - each with a minimum of 10 years' senior leadership experience - and we handle everything from contracts and payroll to onboarding and performance feedback. You get accountable, embedded expertise matched precisely to your challenge, without the overhead of either model.

Every expert in the Maestro community goes through a rigorous multi-stage vetting process. We require a minimum of 10 years' senior leadership experience at leading organisations, consultancies or institutions - or significant experience at a high-growth startup or scale-up. Candidates pass two initial screening stages before a detailed interview where we assess not just capability and track record, but attitude, values and the conditions that get the best out of them. We're looking for people who do great work, not just people looking for their next pay cheque.
Yes. Maestro facilitates introductions so you can assess fit before any engagement begins. We want to make sure the match is right for both sides - the quality of the relationship is just as important as the quality of the expertise.
If a placement isn't working, we address it quickly. Maestro manages the performance feedback process and will work with you to find a better fit. Our goal is long-term client success, not just a transactional placement.
Engagements can range from a single day to two years or more, depending on your needs. Fractional arrangements are typically structured around a set number of days per week or month. Interim roles are usually full-time for a defined period. Project-based engagements are scoped around a specific outcome or deliverable. We structure the engagement around your business, not a standard retainer.
Pricing & Contracts
Fractional executives and consultants work at agreed day rates, which vary depending on their seniority, specialisation and the nature of the engagement. You set your project budget and Maestro matches you to the right talent within it. Maestro adds an industry-competitive commission rate on top. There are no upfront platform fees - you only pay when you engage talent.
No. It is completely free to register and use the Maestro platform as a client. There are no subscription fees, listing fees or upfront costs. Maestro's fee is built into the engagement rate once talent is placed.
Maestro handles all of this end-to-end. We manage contracts, payroll, invoicing and compliance - including the legal and administrative complexity of engaging independent contractors across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. You focus on the work; we take care of the rest.
Yes. If you work with a Maestro expert and decide you want to bring them on permanently, we can facilitate that transition. Many of our clients choose to trial talent fractionally before making a permanent hire - it's a lower-risk way to find the right long-term fit.
Getting Started
Simply head to the Hire Talent page on our website and submit a brief outlining your needs - the type of expertise you're looking for, the nature of the engagement, your timeline and any budget parameters. One of our team will be in contact within 24 hours to discuss your requirements and begin the matching process. Or simply contact Maestro at hello@letsmaestro.com and we can set up a call to discuss your requirements.
The more specific you can be, the better the match. It helps to share: the type of role or expertise you need, the key challenges or outcomes you're trying to address, how many days per week or month you need support, your preferred working arrangement (onsite, hybrid or remote), your timeline for getting started, and any budget parameters. If you're not sure where to start, our team is happy to help you scope the brief.
Absolutely. Many of our clients are engaging a fractional executive or independent consultant for the first time. Our team will guide you through the process, help you scope the right type of engagement and make sure you get maximum value from the experience.
