Answers to your questions about joining Maestro as a fractional expert, interim leader, independent consultant or contractor.

About Maestro
Maestro is a curated community of fractional experts, interim leaders, independent consultants and contractors, connecting exceptional senior talent with meaningful work across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong. We believe the future of work is fractional, focused and flexible - when talent has the freedom to build a career on their own terms, they do their best work, and clients get exactly the expertise they need, exactly when they need it.
Maestro works with consultancies, enterprises, scale-ups and startups of all sizes across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong. We're selective about who we work with - every client is chosen to meet the standard our Maestros deserve.
No - there's no cost for talent to join Maestro.
Maestro is built around a simple idea: the era of burnout culture, quiet quitting and living to work is over. We help experienced leaders build portfolio careers with real flexibility - matching you with opportunities suited to your skills, ambitions and the life you want to build, not just the next job on a list.
Recruiters build large, impersonal databases. Maestro is highly selective in who we represent - we take the time to get to know you beyond your CV, so we can match you with work that suits your skills, ambitions and personal goals. We're also a long-term partner: we help you build your personal brand, set you up for future opportunities, and support you through the Maestro Mentors program. We don't just place you and disappear.
Joining Maestro
Apply here to complete a short application. You'll receive confirmation, and our team will aim to respond within 24-48 hours to let you know if you're a fit to move forward.
Start with a short expression of interest form. If it looks like a good fit, we'll schedule an interview to get to know you beyond your CV - your experience, working style, and career goals. If successful, you'll be welcomed as a Maestro.
Yes - Maestro requires two recent professional references as part of the application process.
Maestro looks for a minimum of 10 years' experience at leading businesses, consultancies or institutions, or significant leadership experience at a scale-up or startup. Beyond experience, we look for the attitude, working style and ambition that set our Maestros up to thrive in fractional and portfolio careers.
Finding Work
Maestro takes a people-first, human-led approach to matching - getting to know you personally, beyond your CV, including your working style, personal goals and ambitions. We use this holistic understanding of you to find the right match for each opportunity, rather than relying on a static shortlist. We also have a private job board where you can apply for specific roles.
Yes - it's entirely up to you which projects you apply for and ultimately accept.
Many engagements support remote or hybrid working, though some clients require onsite presence for part or all of an engagement. Any location requirements are outlined clearly in the project brief.
Maestro is built around fractional, focused and flexible work. You know how you work best - some clients may require specific hours or onsite time, which will be made clear upfront, but otherwise the structure of your engagement is yours to shape.
Yes, and many of our Maestros do. Working across multiple clients is one of the hallmarks of a fractional career - it provides variety, income diversification and the ability to apply your expertise in different contexts. Maestro can help you manage your portfolio and ensure your commitments are balanced and sustainable.
